We are thrilled to be hosting an event for one of our favorite designers, Amy Daileda! You may know her as the mastermind behind Daisy Rock Clothing, the ultra flattering and comfy knitwear line with hand-stitched details and brightly colored chevrons that has become a Queen Bee favorite. Daisy Rock has undergone a transformation, and we're holding a trunk show to debut Amy's new brand, Vivid Element. You'll find the same sumptuous sustainable fabrics and the same lovingly handcrafted details as Amy's vision continues to evolve.

Come celebrate Vivid Element's new Fall line this Saturday in the shop from 1-4 PM. We are located at 3961 N Williams Ave, just south of Shaver St. You don't want to miss this event:

  • Cute clothes!
  • One of a kind pieces from Vivid Element
  • Snacks and Refreshments
  • Meet the Designer
  • With every purchase from Vivid Element, you get a 25% off coupon for any full priced Queen Bee merchandise!

We sat down with Amy to get the scoop on her new line and her creative process!

Queen Bee: How did you get started being a clothing designer, and how have your designs and aesthetic evolved?

My mom started teaching me to sew when I was 5!  She would give me a knitting needle and a piece of fabric, and I would pretend to sew.  From there I made doll clothes and then clothes for myself, so I've been making clothing for most of my life.  After studying painting in college, and working as a florist, I started my business Daisy Rock with handcrafted hats.  Since then I've taken lots of classes and read lots of books and slowly developed into a clothing designer.  My aesthetic has changed from focusing on stitching small flowers and leaves onto hats into using the whole piece of clothing as the canvas with hand dyed colors and design elements wrapping around the body.  I've always loved small things, simple design and brilliant color.

 QB: What inspires you?

Nature and outer space.  Color.  Science Fiction.  Living in harmony with the planet, and creating a way for others to do the same with their choice of clothing.  And strong women.  I love tiny details and the enormous unfathomable vastness of outer space and that contrast. I am inspired being outside, especially in the desert and in my garden.

QB: Tell us about the transition from Daisy Rock to Vivid Element. What can we expect from your new brand?

I started my business Daisy Rock as a handcrafted earth friendly hat business at the Portland Saturday Market over 18 years ago!  Since then my line has evolved into the vibrant women's wear line of skirts, tops and dresses that it is today.  I felt the need to create a new platform for sharing my current vision.  My creativity and direction has shifted and I want my business to reflect that.  I am focusing on expressing my love of the universe's tiny details in brighter and bolder ways in my clothing design.  I've done a lot of soul searching lately and am ready to unleash my creativity more fully, however scary that may be!  My new tagline is "Express your vibrant nature" which is a reminder to myself, and hopefully also an inspiration for the people who appreciate my clothing line, to live and express yourself to the fullest!
