Simple. Beautiful. Functional. Hand-crafted. Modern. These are some of our favorite qualities at Queen Bee, which is why we love Plywerk’s Maggie Frames - you can find them at our Portland shop & on our website too. Read on to learn more about this kindred Portland business.
Plywerk began when Portland-based photojournalist Kim Oanh Nguyen-van Zoen and her husband Kjell van Zoen mounted her photograph on a piece of discarded plywood. Since then, they’ve moved their basement workshop into a riverside industrial space just down the road from Queen Bee. Much like Queen Bee Creations, these clever Plywerk frames are handmade by real humans and their materials are sourced from local suppliers with a similar business ethos. Maggie frames are made from sustainably harvested bamboo.
