Early Inspiration: Native Funk & Flash

by Rebecca Pearcy on 18 May, 2015

Growing up with 70's era hippy parents definitely had its influence on me. Somewhere along the way I was given a copy of the now out-of-print Native Funk & Flash by Alexandra Hart (published in 1974, a year after I was born). Much embroidery on denim ensued. I was always hungry for information & inspiration for any variety of creative expression, and Native Funk & Flash is rich with sometimes bizarre but often truly fun creative expressions of seventies California culture.

I was delighted to see this write-up about Alexandra Hart and this book today on Edition Local. So fun to have the opportunity to get a glimpse into her life now and what her home studio looks like.  Click over to learn more.
